Our Community
We are a group of musical theatre devotees and your neighbors who decided to round out the local theatre scene by creating Théâtre Musical ENCORE Musical Theatre! Our goal is to give local show people opportunities to sing, dance and fulfill their creative ambitions and of course, to bring quality musical theatre back to the area.
We want to share our love of Musical Theatre with as many people as possible, thus Encore Musical Theatre welcomes enthusiasts not only from Hudson, but from the surrounding environs as well. If you love musical theatre you are welcome here!!!

Chris Gobeil
Treasurer
Not your typical accountant, but with all the qualities a good accountant should have! Chris is an amateur playwright, experienced performer, director and producer whose mind works in an amazing (and maybe little offbeat) way. Witty, funny, he is a source of boundless positive energy and calm rationale. A great combination to have on any team.
-
Sylvia Mauri
Vice President
Thrilled that musical theatre is making a long-awaited return to the area, Sylvia is most pleased to be active in the inception and organization of ENCORE Musical Theatre! Upon retiring as a teacher of modern languages, drama and dance, she performed in a number of Hudson Music Club, Hudson Players and Lakeshore Players productions. Sylvia now divides her time coordinating a programme of activities for a local seniors’ social group and volunteering in the community.

Amanda Caron
Social Media Director
Hi! I’m Amanda: The person behind the posts! My love of theatre was born at 4 years old when I won the role of the Big Bad Wolf at Canada’s Wonderland by roaring the loudest!
Since then I have had the honour of playing with so many creatives on so many stages; singing, acting, and dancing my way from one book musical to another cabaret. Most recently I have added Associate Producer and Choreographer to my resume.
It is a thrill to get to work behind the scenes with such a talented and passionate production team! I am so grateful to be able to play a part in bringing Musical Theatre to Hudson. Thank you to our lovely community for all of your support.

Kelsey Scotcher
Membership Director
Hi i’m Kelsey! I grew up in Hudson. I moved away for 8 years and decided to come back to my home roots last April. I’ve always had a love for the arts and musical theatre is my favourite! ☺️ It fuels my soul and creativity with dancing, singing and acting.
It was so much fun performing in Curtains with Encore Musical Theatre, and I am thrilled to be on the Board as Membership Director!
-
Peter Garbacz
Technical Director
Hey there! I’m Pete. I joined Encore last year as Stage Manager. My motto is that if the audience doesn’t know I’m there, I’ve done a good job! That said, the cast definitely knows I am there. As Johnny Harmon said in Curtains, “I am part psychiatrist, part Mother Hen, part Father Confessor.” I am very excited to join the Encore Board as Technical Director!
-
Susan Corbett
Secretary
Susan is an actor, performing on stage, screen, and in the voice world over the past many many years. Currently writing her first film, she is thankful every day to be a Hudsonite and involved with so many creative and vibrant people!!

Christine (Chris) Sheppard
Member at Large
Christine Sheppard caught the theatre bug at 12, watching her parents rehearse with the Beckett Players. She soon joined them, proving theatre might just be hereditary. After a break to raise three kids (its own kind of drama), she returned to the stage thanks to a dare from her daughter to audition for Hudson Village Theatre’s Panto. Three glitter-filled years later, she’d also performed with Hudson Players Club in Jitters, The Great Gatsby, and Balconville, even serving on the board—where she learned theatre politics run on snacks.
Chris has also tackled Shakespeare, with roles in Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, The Merry Wives of Windsor, and For the Love of Shakespeare—because who doesn’t love memorizing centuries-old iambic pentameter for fun? She recently joined Encore Theatre’s 9 to 5 ensemble and liked it so much she joined the board (classic theatre trap).
By day, Chris is a resource teacher with a Master’s in Educational Counselling and Psychology, helping kids with learning differences like Dyslexia—which means she can both decode Shakespeare and help you spell it.
